Welcome to Kaunas Jonas Jablonskis Gymnasium, an exceptional environment for the IB students, offering high-quality education, modern facilities, and a strong sense of community.

Our school was founded in 1931 when Kaunas was the temporary capital of Lithuania. This year, we are celebrating our 94th anniversary.

The school was originally established to serve the growing community of Žaliakalnis, which was becoming a popular area for intellectuals and their families. Today, we continue to honor our historical roots while embracing educational innovation.

At the entrance, you will see a quote by Jonas Jablonskis, a renowned Lithuanian linguist who helped standardize the Lithuanian language. Our school is named in his honor, recognizing his contributions to linguistics and shaping the modern Lithuanian language.

Beyond academics, our school is a vibrant community full of engaging activities. Last year, our DP students organized a TEDx conference where students and guest speakers shared inspiring ideas.

They also hosted an event called IB's Got Talent, showcasing the incredible skills of our IB students. Our students actively contribute to these initiatives, making our school a hub of creativity and international mindedness.

Here on the second floor, students showcase their CAS experiences through displays and posters. We have the IB program posters, which include key components with detailed explanations.

Each year, our gymnasium organizes a variety of meaningful events. The biggest is the Christmas charity event where students perform music, dance, and theater, raising funds for important causes.

During this event, students and teachers are awarded for their efforts in promoting our gymnasium's name. DP students also receive such nominations for their remarkable projects.

Another similar event is the Honor of the Year ceremony, where the most talented students and teachers are recognized for their outstanding academic achievements.

This wall displays historical photos, including the first picture of our school. Our gymnasium is part of UNESCO's modern Kaunas heritage, recognized for its optimism architecture.

Notably, former Lithuanian president Valdas Adamkus studied here. In addition, our school has long been known for strong English language education, maintaining a tradition of multilingual learning which the IB program helps us to foster.

Next, we arrive at the IB student lounge, commonly referred to as the Aquarium. This is just our little corner of the school where we can collaborate on projects, study independently, or just relax between classes.

It's a great spot for focusing or catching up with friends, especially when we're juggling a packed schedule.

Next to it, our science lab is fully equipped for biology, chemistry, and physics experiments, making hands-on learning an essential part of our IB program.

Whether it's internal assessments or working on group projects, this lab is where science really comes to life. The library is a key resource for IB students.

It provides a quiet study space for research and coursework, a collection of IB textbooks including extended essays, CAS and TOK handbooks, and digital print resources such as computers and books.

In April, the EE Cafe takes place here as well, where students can refine and finalize their extended essay ideas in a collaborative setting.

Our cafeteria is cozy and welcoming, offering a variety of delicious, nutritious meals regardless of your diet.

The best part is that we don't have a fixed lunchtime, so you can eat whenever it fits into your day. This allows us to keep energy levels up without feeling rushed.

On the way to the third floor, you will notice student artwork and projects displayed on the walls. This floor houses the student parliament, where students lead initiatives and enhance school life.

Nearby, our trophy display celebrates achievements in academics, sports, and competitions. The IB Learner Profile illustration, created as a CAS project by the first generation of DP students,

reminds us that the values of the IB program extend beyond IB students. They inspire our entire school community to be lifelong learners.

Throughout the school, you will see inspirational quotes chosen by students, encouraging curiosity, creativity, and personal growth.

As we continue, there are also exhibitions of student creative works and photos on the walls. Our gymnasium has its own musical band, Wayam.

The school also offers a wide range of activities and clubs including theater, journalism, sports, choir, and dancing, along with languages such as Italian, Spanish, Latvian, and Japanese.

We are also known for our debate team, which DP students are always welcome to partake in. Debates are conducted in English, making them an excellent opportunity for DP students to enhance their speaking skills, critical thinking, and collaboration.

Thank you for being part of this tour of Kaunas Jonas Jablonskis Gymnasium. We hope you have gained some insights into what makes our school a perfect choice for IB students, and look forward to seeing you in our gymnasium.
